About Shannon
I am passionate about creating bodies of work that are based on the simple pleasure of recording my observations of the natural world from memory and experience. I don’t seek to replicate nature, instead my art process wants to deconstruct it, show the beauty in what would otherwise be considered imperfections and make them visible. I look to seasonality and plant characteristics and how light, wind and water play an important role in those ever-changing environments.
My work is gestural and impulsive at times, physically reacting to emotions triggered upon seeing shapes, colors and textures in nature or experiencing her natural rhythms. My organic shapes attempt to create a framework for a landscape focused on capturing and expressing the creative, vibrant and joyful energy of the Pacific Northwest. Unearthing those energies through deconstruction and abstraction allows for layers of interpretations. Ultimately, giving the viewer an invitation to dive into tiny moments where everything resides.
By supporting this small business you will intern be supporting local non-for profit environmental organizations, as well as organic and biodynamic farms that support accessible and equitable food systems.
